Crumlin Children's Hospital
The aim of this 3rd Year IADT Viscom project is to create a visually appealing environment for the nuclear scanning room at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin (OLCHC), in order to make the procedure a more pleasant experience for its users. “The Acrobots” are a cute energetic family who love climbing up walls and over furniture purely for the fun of it. They are a cheerful and diverse brood of all different shapes, sizes and colours. They help each other get over obstacles, ensuring no one gets left behind. The Acrobots are a metaphor for the families attending hospital, helping each other get through what can be a very daunting and stressful process. The goal here is to brighten up the waiting and treatment rooms and create a relaxed, happy atmosphere in order to make the clinical assessments less intimidating. The intention was to create playful geometric illustrations to entertain and distract the children though the simple and engaging storytelling visuals.
